But it is not so straight forward as Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is not any one thing but a series of changes and activities that help you rank better on search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing etc.

To help understand what services you need to buy, here are the key elements of optimising your website for search engines.
1. Have a mobile responsive website
Google now cares how your website appears on mobile devices.

2. Have a well coded website with proper meta-data
Having a website that is poorly coded affects your rankings on Google and other search engines. Especially meta-data tags and proper mark up of page text is important for Google rankings.
Your page URL, for example, is an important part of your SEO strategy and Google ranking. Yet many websites do not use SEO friendly URLs. Many website URLs look like: www.mydomain.com/?p=33. In contrast, Google friendly URLs look like: www.mydomain.com/web-design-firm-canberra
Furthermore, a page’s <Title> and <H1> tags are an important factor in the page’s Google ranking and its usability. Accordingly, these tags should be set for all pages on your website. By default, the website should take the page heading and add it to the page <Title> tag and to the <h1> tag.

5. Regularly add relevant content on your website
Not only do you have to have a good base set of content but you need to regularly add new content to show Google that your website is an up-to-date source of information.
This means adding blog articles, news items, portfolio examples, videos etc.

One way to get back links is to write guest posts for blogs / e-magazines in your market. Another is to answer questions in public forums including Facebook and Linked In groups, with a link back to your site for more information.

7. Adding or optimising your Google Business listing
Most businesses either don’t have a Google business listing or have an incomplete / outdated one. Google listings are a great source of leads and should be updated to include up-to-date information, along with relevant photos.

8. Landing page creation
